Quick answer
Yes, Tradition Locksmith covers Fort Pierce North, the unincorporated neighborhoods just past the north and northwest edge of the City of Fort Pierce. Our mobile technicians drive about 17 to 18 miles from central Port St. Lucie, usually 25 to 30 minutes. We rekey rentals between tenants, open locked homes and cars, and replace salt-worn locks. Your total is quoted on the phone first.
Local knowledge
Fort Pierce North is a census-designated place, not a city. It sits in unincorporated St. Lucie County, just outside the City of Fort Pierce to the north and northwest, and touches the town of St. Lucie Village at its north end. The 2020 census counted 6,904 residents. 25th Street (State Road 615) runs up the middle of it for a couple of miles before it meets US 1.
From central Port St. Lucie we usually take Florida’s Turnpike north, then Okeechobee Road and 25th Street, and reach most addresses in 25 to 30 minutes. Streets on the west side, around Juanita Avenue and North 44th Street, are often quicker to reach by Kings Highway and Angle Road. Addresses by US 1 and the river usually land at the longer end of that window.
Because homes here turn over a lot. Census survey estimates for 2020 to 2024 show about 44 percent of households in Fort Pierce North rent, and roughly 15 percent of residents moved in the past year. Every move-out leaves keys you cannot account for: the copy the last tenant made at the hardware store, the one they lent a cousin, the spare under the planter.
Rekeying fixes that without buying new hardware. We take the cylinder apart, change the pins and cut new keys. Any key from the last tenant is useless from that moment. Many landlords like every outside door on a unit to take one key. Others with several houses have them keyed alike, so one key opens every property they manage.
From the inlet to Lakewood Park, one call for a real price.
Mostly fresh cylinders and stronger strike plates. More than half of the homes in Fort Pierce North were built before 1980, and about 15 percent date back to the 1940s. Many are concrete block homes on lots of a quarter acre or so. In Harmony Heights, for example, you will find block homes built in the 1950s and 1970s.
On houses this age we often see a single knob lock on the back or kitchen door, a strike plate held by short screws in old wood trim, or a door that has sagged until the bolt rubs the strike. A Kwikset or Schlage deadbolt with a reinforced strike and long screws into the framing fixes most of that. If a door only sticks, we can usually move the strike so the bolt lines up, without replacing anything else.
What we do here
Every service below is mobile. We bring the tools and parts to your door, driveway or parking lot in Fort Pierce North.
Locked out of a house, car or business. Damage-free entry first, proof of ownership every time.
Deadbolts, knobs, sliders and storm doors fitted and repaired at your home.
New pins so old keys stop working, or new hardware when the lock is worn out.
Keypad and Wi-Fi deadbolts fitted, aligned and set up with your codes.
Remote head keys, flip keys and push to start fobs, programmed on site.
Storefront and office locks, closers, panic bars and staff change rekeys.
Master key systems, keypads and fob readers for offices and rentals.
These are the jobs that come up most on the north side of town.
New keys for every door before the next renter moves in. Quick, and no new locks needed if the hardware still works well.
Locked out on Avenue Q or out by Juanita Avenue? We start with picking and other non-destructive methods. Drilling is the last option.
Keys locked inside, or the only key lost? We get most vehicles open without a scratch and can make a new transponder key or fob on site. German brands are the exception: no BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche or Mini.
Shops along US 1 and units near the airport business park can call us for lockouts, rekeys, keypads and panic bar repairs.
About one in six homes here is a mobile home. Their thinner doors and combo handle sets take different parts than a block house. Tell us it is a mobile home when you call so we bring the right ones.
Yes, and you notice it most on the east side. The east end of Fort Pierce North comes within a few hundred feet of the Indian River, which is part of the Indian River Lagoon, and both Taylor Creek and Moore’s Creek cross the area. Damp, salty air works its way into lock cylinders and latches. Over time the small pins corrode and stick, and you start jiggling the key to make it turn.
If a key is getting harder to turn, do not force it and do not soak it in an oily spray, which collects grit. A puff of dry graphite buys you some time. If the cylinder is already pitted, or a key snaps off inside, we replace it with a lock that has a finish made to hold up better near the water.
Call and we will quote the total before we drive out. Sun to Thu 7am to 11pm, Fri 7am to 5pm.
In October 2024 a tornado spun up by Hurricane Milton tore off parts of roofs near St. Lucie Boulevard and North 25th Street. A storm can shift a door frame just enough that the deadbolt looks locked but is not fully thrown. Turn each lock and pull on the door to be sure.
Give us the street, which door or car, and what is going on. A quick photo of the lock lets us pack the right parts.
We give you the total over the phone first. No surprise fees show up later.
Look for a marked van. The technician shows ID at the door. Most north side addresses are 25 to 30 minutes from our base.
Have ID showing this address ready, or a lease or utility bill in your name. Landlords can show a deed or a management agreement.
We try every new key in every lock we worked on, so you are not finding out at night that one sticks.

Call any day but Saturday. We start at 7am and keep going until 11pm Sunday through Thursday, and Friday wraps up at 5pm. A rekey before a 9am move-in or a lockout after dinner both fit inside those hours.
If you own or manage homes in other parts of the county, we also cover Fort Pierce South, Lakewood Park a short drive north, and all of Port St. Lucie.
FAQ
No. Fort Pierce North is an unincorporated census-designated place in St. Lucie County. It uses Fort Pierce mailing addresses, mostly ZIP 34946, but it sits outside the city limits, to the north and northwest. For locksmith work that changes nothing. We serve the whole area, city side and county side, at the same prices.
It is about 17 to 18 miles from central Port St. Lucie, and most trips take 25 to 30 minutes by the Turnpike and Okeechobee Road or Kings Highway. We give you a straight estimate of when we will pull up, given the job our technician is on right then.
If the locks still turn smoothly and you only need the old keys dead, rekey. It costs less because the hardware stays. Replace a lock if it is worn, corroded from salt air, or is a cheap knob lock on a door that should have a deadbolt. On many rentals here we end up doing some of each.
Homes near the Indian River and Taylor Creek sit in damp, salty air, and it gets inside the cylinder and turns old grease gritty. Try a little dry graphite. If that does not free it up, or the knob wobbles, the cylinder is likely corroded inside and is worth replacing before a key breaks off in it.
Yes. We can set up a simple master key system. Each unit gets its own key, and your master key fits all of them. It works well for duplexes and small groups of houses. Have the number of doors and buildings handy and we will price it per door.
Yes. The airport and its business park sit just north of the Fort Pierce North neighborhoods, and the whole area is inside our service area. For shops, offices and hangars there we handle lockouts, rekeys, keypad and fob access control, and panic bars on exit doors, with the price quoted on the phone first.
