Quick answer
Tradition Locksmith serves North River Shores, the neighborhood on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River just north of the Roosevelt Bridge in Martin County. Most calls here are rekeys after buying a home, sliding glass door locks that no longer catch, and deadbolts stiff from humid, salty air. We are about 8 miles away and quote your total on the phone.
A North River Shores locksmith call usually starts one of two ways. Someone just bought a house or condo here, or a door has quietly gotten harder to lock. The neighborhood sits on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, so humidity and salt reach the locks year round, and wear shows up sooner than it does inland.
The North River Shores Property Owners Association says the original subdivision was established in the mid-1950s, which makes it one of the oldest in Martin County. Today the area holds riverfront and inland single-family homes, duplexes, rental apartments and condos. The 2020 Census counted 3,459 people here, with a median age of about 55.
That age profile matters for locks. Many owners want fewer keys, easier handles or a keypad, and many have family or helpers who need a way in. We are happy to talk through those choices when you call.
Local knowledge
North River Shores is an unincorporated community in northeastern Martin County. It sits north of the Roosevelt Bridge, west of US 1 and south of Britt Road. The city of Stuart borders it to the east, the tidal North Fork of the St. Lucie River runs along its south side, and St. Lucie County lies to the west. Palm City is to the southwest and Jensen Beach is just across US 1.
From central Port St. Lucie we come straight down US 1, usually in about 15 to 20 minutes. Inside the neighborhood, the community parks sit on NW Fork Road, NW Lakeside Trail and NW Spruce Ridge Drive, which makes them easy landmarks when you give us directions.
Older homes and river views just north of Stuart.
Moist, salty air gets into the keyway and the bolt. Brass pins and springs inside the cylinder build up grime, and steel parts start to rust. The key goes in fine but turns rough, and one day it will not turn at all. Outdoor locks on the river side of the house usually go first.
Here is what we look for on a North River Shores call:
What we do here

Keypad and Wi-Fi deadbolts fitted, aligned and set up with your codes.
Remote head keys, flip keys and push to start fobs, programmed on site.
Storefront and office locks, closers, panic bars and staff change rekeys.
Master key systems, keypads and fob readers for offices and rentals.
Riverfront and inland homes here lean on sliding doors to reach the patio, pool and dock, and their latches take a beating.
Most slider latches are a small hook that grabs a keeper on the frame. When the door sags or the rollers wear, the hook misses. Sometimes adjusting the keeper fixes it. Other times the latch needs replacing.
Many slider handles have no key at all. A keyed mortise latch or a keyed handle lets you lock the door from outside on the way to the dock.
A bar in the track stops the panel from sliding, and a foot lock pins it to the floor. Both are cheap, simple backups on any slider.
Double doors need the inactive leaf held tight with flush bolts top and bottom. When those bolts wear, the whole pair rattles and the deadbolt binds.
Front, back, garage entry, sliders with keyed locks and any side gate. Older homes often have locks from three or four different brands after years of repairs.
Builders, past owners, cleaners, pool services and dog walkers may all still have keys. You cannot know how many copies are out there.
Rekeying changes the pins inside your existing locks so old keys stop working. If the locks are in good shape, it costs less than new locks. Locks of one brand, like all Kwikset or all Schlage, can usually be keyed alike. Mixed brands may need a cylinder or two swapped.
If a lock is corroded inside, rekeying it is throwing money away. We show you which ones to keep and which ones to replace before we start.

Nosaw Park's private boat ramp has a lock the property owners association changes every January. Keys come from the association, not from a locksmith. If you lost your ramp key, contact the association. We can help with the locks on your own home, dock box or gate.

The state of Florida does not license locksmiths, and under Florida Statute 163.211, local governments cannot add an occupational license of their own. So a license number will not tell you much. Martin County does require a general Business Tax Receipt, so you can ask for that.
Better checks are simple. Get a total price on the phone. Look for a marked vehicle and ID. Expect to be asked for proof you live at the address, because a real locksmith will not open a home for just anyone. Our guide on how to spot a fake locksmith covers the warning signs.
FAQ
Most often the door has shifted and the bolt drags on the strike plate. If it turns easily with the door open, that is your answer. If it is stiff with the door open too, the cylinder is likely full of grime or starting to corrode from the humid river air. We can clean, adjust or replace it, and we tell you which one it needs first.
Usually, yes. Rekeying swaps the pins so every lock works with one new key and the old keys stop working. Mixed brands sometimes need a cylinder or two replaced so they all take the same key. Any lock already corroded inside is better replaced than rekeyed, and we point those out before we start.
Often, yes. Many slider problems come from a sagging door or a worn keeper, and an adjustment gets the latch catching again. If the latch itself is broken, we can replace it, and we can add a keyed lock or a foot lock for extra security. We will tell you if the real issue is worn rollers, which is a door repair job.
No. The ramp lock at Nosaw Park belongs to the property owners association, and it changes every January. Ramp keys come only from the association, and you need proof you own a home in one of its subdivisions. We can help with the locks on your house, dock box or side gate.
Yes, and it is a common request here. A keypad deadbolt lets family, a home aide or a neighbor get in with a code you can change any time, so nobody has to hide a key. Backlit keypads are easier to read at night. We go over the choices and the total price before we start.
